John Cowlishaw joined Carlton Bingo to get a bit of money for a holiday before returning to college, but instead decided to accept the offer of the trainee management position – and he’s never looked back. John says, “The biggest thing for me is the people, on all levels, and the open communications. I know I can pick up the phone and speak to one of the directors straightaway and they’ll know who I am. I don’t think you could say that about many companies”.
Shaun Riach joined Carlton Bingo in 2005 at the age of 18. Having started as an Entertainment General Assistant, he was quickly promoted through the ranks to Assistant Manager in the Stirling venue, managing a team of 30 staff. Shaun has recently been promoted to Deputy Manager of our Livingston venue where he is keen to put all his knowledge and experience to good use. Shaun says “I love the bingo environment, I’ve learned so much in such a short time. I can’t wait to develop further as a General Manager.”
Kerry Emms started on the Management Trainee Programme in 2006 and in July 2008 she achieved her latest milestone when she was promoted to General Manager at our Fraserburgh venue. Kerry had never thought of a career in the gambling or entertainment sector until she had a discussion with Karen Hazlett at the job fair in 2006, she quickly realised it was the challenge she was looking for and has never looked back. “I love the job, the variety and the great atmosphere,” says Kerry “I’d certainly recommend Carlton Clubs, especially if you are hard working, like people and enjoy a lively atmosphere!"
